As she navigates this secret realm, Marjan uncovers the truth about her father’s past and the dangerous power struggle surrounding the trade of magical beasts.

Review:
Once There Was blends mystery, mythology, and emotional depth into a rich fantasy that feels both classic and new. Marjan is a thoughtful and determined protagonist whose journey of self-discovery is as compelling as her encounters with mythical creatures. The story balances adventure with introspection, exploring family secrets, identity, and moral choices. While the pacing can feel slow at times, the imaginative world and heartfelt character growth make it a rewarding read. Fans of Impossible Creatures will appreciate this darker, more mature companion read filled with wonder and courage.
