Their fellow heroes have been poisoned by a sleeping potion from UFOs known as the Space Cuties, who plan to take over the world. It is up to Big Jim and Grampa to save the day, but their journey is filled with confusion, chaos, and unexpected humor. Along the way, Big Jim’s optimism and heart contrast with his grandfather’s negativity, offering lessons about teamwork, family, and believing in yourself.
Review:
Dog Man: Big Jim Begins delivers the signature Dav Pilkey blend of silliness, action, and heart that young readers adore. While the story can be jumpy and hard to follow at times, Big Jim’s cheerful personality and the fast-paced plot keep kids engaged. The illustrations are colorful and expressive, bringing both humor and emotion to the story. Pilkey’s inclusion of a “how to draw” section at the end adds a creative, interactive element students will love. Perfect for readers who enjoy action-packed graphic novels filled with laughs, lessons, and over-the-top fun.
